Hi Guys, This has happened twice in the last three months.
I have been driving for at least two hours on the interstate. All of a sudden I will attempt to downshift from 5th gear into 4th to gain some extra power getting up a hill. I am unable to get the car into gear. The friction point on the clutch pedal changes to the floor board. I am forced to stop on the side of the road. I turn off the car. When the car is off I am able to shift through all the gears without pushing the clutch pedal in. I am able to put the car in first gear and start the car. As I let out the clutch, it engages immediately off the floor board. I am only able to shift through the gears by double clutching. The car is drivable for the next 12 hours. The first time, the car sits overnight and the next morning, the friction point is back to where it was before the clutch problem and the car does not shift through all the gears when off. The second time the problem took an extra day to fix itself. It returned to normal after a day and a half. I currently drive the car for short trips around Los Angeles of under 30 minutes usually. I checked the clutch fluid and it is not low. I also changed my oil a couple of days before this problem occurred both times. Any suggestions? I called the Dealership because the car is still under warranty and they said I should wait until it acts up again to bring it in. Thanks so much for your help in advance!
