ok, i bought this 2000 accent with 90,000 miles on it a few months ago. it drove fine and seemed cool. then i noticed the check engine light go on sometime after buying it due to low/high idle. also the engine and car jerked due to a misfire on the highway and road when i slowed and then quickly hit the gas.

now instead of idling too high it idles rough and cruises on very low rpms. (good for gas though) someone said it still has a misfire because the engine and car shake and have a rough idle, not severe though. for a while now when i accelerate up a hill and get to the crest, or when my rpms are at like 3000, then tranny upshifts and the rpms lower to like 2,500. it should stop there so i have enough power to keep going, but then it either upshifts again or the rpms just suddenly drop to 2,000 or below after i get to the top of the hill or get to a shift point around 3000 rpms.

also when i accelerate on the highway or whenever i can reach about 45 or 50 mph, my car upshifts once i hit between 2,500 and 3,000 rpms, and then the rpms again drop to under 2000 to around 1,700-2,000. when i hit the gas the rpms do not go up as they should, and to go faster the only way to is to slam the gas pedal and the rpms shoot up. but they then fall back under 2,000 at cruising speed. when i try to give it gas when its under 2000, the car does not go faster, and seems like it shakes and will almost stall (its automatic). i also hear like a slight grinding noise or pinging/rattling sound when the rpms drop under 2000 when i am go about 50 plus mph. (probably do to the car almost stalling and not enough power????)

what is that sound and why do my rpms drop so low once i get to around 45 plus mph??? help!!! no one can tell me and mechanics keep telling me wrong info and want to have me pay diagnositic when my light is not even on! SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?

fyi, i got new spark wires and plugs and then a new ignition coil, but nothing helped. car shop said i had an arched spark and the coil was probably causing the misfire and power loss, but they were wrong and nothing i fixed helped. any suggestions??? (fuel filter, fuel injectors, air sensors???)
