Aerodynamics by Carlsson: the unity of elegance and power
Is it possible to improve on pure luxury? Probably not. Nevertheless, discreet and effective components cleverly round off the appearance of the new S Class and give it a sporting touch. The front spoiler and rear-apron lip are distinguished by the typical Carlsson diffuser look and improve the handling of the 1985 kg luxury liner at high speed. Better driving characteristics always have a positive impact on vehicle safety and, therefore, driver and passenger safety. An advantage that Mercedes-Benz drivers in particular have appreciated for years.

The rapid progress in development of the Carlsson Racer CK35 RS (based on the SLK 350) since its first appearance in May 2005 and the current leadership in the VLN Long-Distance-Cup 2006 with a top ten position has raised high expectations for this year’s 24-h-Race.
After a difficult practice
with problems in the sphere of engine electronics, head of the team Rainer Brückner qualified the racer on start position 42 of 220 participants. This was start position 13 in the class SP6, in which, beside Hans Stuck and Dieter Quester, 22 successful BMW M3, Mitsubishi EVO 8, Honda NSX and several others started.
After the 6th lap of the 24-h-Race which was started at 3.00 p.m. there was a cable fire of the intercommunication system on board. During an emergency repair of 14 minutes Rainer Brückner succeeded in repairing the damage himself on the track. During the following pit stop a new intercommunication system could be installed. By this incident, which caused a delay of 14 minutes, the Carlsson Racer having started on position 42 and having driven up to position 30, fell back on position 121.
