First off…Hi. I am new to the forum here , and also this is the first Honda, and fist non 4×4 Automobile I have owned. My job now requires that I drive 70 miles to and 70 miles home from the office, and my 12 MPG 4×4 was killing me! So, the wife and I decided to give her my truck, and we traded her older (1999) SUV in for a brand new 2004 Civic LX Sedan. Its a nice looking dark blue pearl with ……gasp…wheel simulators! I had the dealer install the rear trunk lid spoiler, the driving lights that are fitted to the front facia, and the molded splash guards to keep the paint from being destroyed in the Pennsylvania winters.

Thats how I came to own the car, now onto the question. The car is 1 day old, I like it…it rides nice and is quiet to drive. The 1.7 liter engine is a not too bad, but I am sure there are some helpfull and "not to expensive mods" that can enhance the car without killing the 38 MPG. I would like to spend upto $1500 but not more than that. I would consider exhaust, but not the LOUD (read that as annoying) kind I see running around. I am 33 yrs old, so I am not interested in impressing "chicks" with my drive by noise ;D . I have called the guys at 2kracing and they pointed me towards the AEM-22503 Short Ram Intake for $129, and I asked about the pulley that slows down the accesories that is approx $160. What would some of you more experianced tuners do to enhance the driving experiance without ruining the cars reliability and economy? I guess I am looking for a blueprint for making this car the best it can be, and I am asking for help in this area that I am unfamiliar with. Feel free to email me or post here, I will check back often as I can.

Thank you for any help you may offer.

I have a 03 Civic EX that I want to put a cold air intake and performance muffler just to get an extra kick driving it - thats all. I dont want one of them huge mufflers with the crazy sounds - any recomendations ? I want a regular type free flow muffler of some sort.
