Wheel vs Tire size

I bought a set of 18×7.5 wheels with Nankang 225/40/18 tires. I am looking to buy a new set of wheels, but I was wondering if those same tires would fit on a wheel that is 18×8.5? Please help, thanks!

Piston Ring Size

As I explained in my “Piston” thread, my BMW needs some new rings. The problem is we are not sure of it size. The rings seem to have different sizes though we bought all of them for same engine. We though that a wider ring may help eliminating wombbliness of pistons.
I know my qustion is ambiguous but please help!
